These are my vacation pictures from the family camping trip in August 2008. Although we stayed in the mountains on the southern Oregon coast, almost all these pictures are from a day hike in a redwood grove just over the border in nothern California. Click on each picture to see the (very large) full-size original.

Welcome to the redwoods:

They sure are tall, aren't they?

However there are plenty of interesting small things too.

Like this little guy:

Some vibrantly green vine maple.

That sure is some red... wood.

Lots of little green things, like wood sorrel and four kinds of fern.

Some nice happy poison oak vines.

A big ol' burl.

And last but certainly not least, a closeup of a wet fungus!

Here are a few more pictures that didn't make the top 10 but may still be worth checking out. They are huge and unedited because I got tired of cropping and resizing.

Sarah inside a hollow redwood.
A moss-covered rhododendron.
A closeup of some moss.
More moss. Thrilling!
Some fungus on a log.
A spider.
A decaying redwood trunk.
Another fungus, this one's orange.
A stump and some trees I guess.
Surprise! A fungus.
A weird little thing growing in some moss, and Becky in the background.
Many more weird little things.
Redwoods are big. Like, really big.
Campfires are neat.
Closeup of the fire.
