Below are my vacation photos from the September 2006 family camping trip to Aunt Becky's in Grand Junction, Colorado. Please be patient, it may take a minute for everything to load. Click on each picture to see the full-size original, or look at the list of all of them.
The remains of some structure on the old Parrot homestead.

These flowers seemed just a little out of place here.

A single perfect juniper tree, alone in a field.

The day after next, we decide to go for a little hike in the Monument
park.

Eli is somewhat nonplussed by all these photos I keep taking.

Later that day several of us go on the Rim Rock Drive.

I wonder how many years this delicately-balanced rock has been slowly
eroding away.

I love the bizarrely gnarled shapes you can find in juniper trees.

I wonder how some of these trees can survive at all.

Scott poses for me. Pictures really can't do these gorgeous canyons
justice.

And finally, a reminder to watch where you're walking.

Here are a few more pictures that I cut to avoid making this page excessively boring and slow to load. No nice browser-friendly resizing here, sorry. Clicking the links gets you the original ginormous version.
Closeup of a snake in the
graveyard.
An old wooden tombstone.
The old Parrot homestead.
If you look very closely just to the right
of the pond, you can see that one solitary tree from above.
The old schoolhouse.
We're off to see the the wizard...
Sedimentary bands in a monument park
cliff.
Scott resting in a little hollow.
Sarah and Eli.
We spot the other group from way up on top
of the mesa.
A stone pinnacle overlooking a
canyon.
The group on top of the mesa we hiked
to.
Not a lot of vegetation up there.
Zach descends into the crevice.
A gnarled old juniper on the rim
drive.
A bit of mesa on the rim.
